This urban sculpture was built in
1996 by Andreu Alfaro, Valencian sculptor who died in 2012 aged 83. It is
located in Plaça de la Dona (Woman’s square), in a roundabout where converge Carretera de Castellar
(Castellar Road), Passeig 22 de juliol (22nd July Avenue), Avinguda
Barcelona (Barcelona Avenue) and Avinguda de Jaume I (James first Avenue).
This sculpture is a ringlet, 40
metres high and it has a 4 metres wide base that reduces to 70 centimetres in
its highest part.
It is made of corten steel , this
with a modular repetition system based on planes that are interwoven give its
strong dynamism.
It pays tribute to the working
woman, especially the working woman from Terrassa, who played a key role during
the industrialization period and still does taking into account the present
society.
